First published in News

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between a car and a pedestrian.

Officers were called to Cowdray Avenue, at the junction with North Station Road, in Colchester, at about 1.30am this morning following reports that a pedestrian had been in collision with a Nissan Terrano, whilst he was crossing the road on the roundabout.

The pedestrian, a 29 year old man from Worcester, was taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridgeshire where he is being treated for a serious head injury.

The driver, a 52 year old man from the Colchester area was not injured.

The road was closed until 4.20am whilst investigations were carried out and the scene was cleared.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information about events leading up to the collision, should contact PC Grant Fryatt or PS Mark Hercules at Stanway Road Policing Unit on 101.

Hmmm. What an interesting headline…………

3:42pm Friday 1st August 2014

A man, woman and young girk have been taken to hospital after the car they were travelling in overturned outside a Bradwell pub.

I note that the Urban Dictionary describes a girk as ‘any violent woman who attacks the genitalia of unsuspecting men in order to amuse themselves or others’.

No wonder the hazardous area response team were deployed!
