A local club is celebrating after it finally has a club house after 20 years of wanting one.
Hatfield Peverel Football Club's New Venture Clubhouse was officially opened by Julian Dicks, ex West Ham Player, and Colchester United Manger Joe Dunne on June 21.
The club, which was formed in 1903, raised just under £300,000 to replace its ageing pitches, clubhouse and changing rooms, which did not meet the Football Association's requirements.
The pavilion is named after retired architect Ron Hayden, 70, who volunteered two years of his time to design it and whose son, Aaron Hayden, is currently joint chairman.
