A group of Beaver Scouts fear their ‘colony’ may be forced to close if new volunteer leaders cannot be found.

The Kelvedon and Feering Beaver Scouts have been run for the last year by temporary volunteers who are stepping down at the end of July.

Scout Leader Samantha Flindall said: “It’s a great shame, the boys love coming here.

“Parents are so busy these days holding down a job and running a family that none have been able to take on the role.

“While it is rewarding work it takes up more time than just the hour and 15 minutes each week when we all meet.”

“It would be ideal for an active grandparent who may not have a demanding job, or a parent whose children are in senior school.”
