Try out new sports and activities at a festival.

Braintree Leisure Centre is holding a Commonwealth Games festival on July 26 to celebrate the start of the Commonwealth Games.

There will be a range of activities available and all are completely free.

Turn-up-and-try activities include archery, trampolining, badminton, parkour, short mat bowls, mini golf, street golf and street football.

Other activities, such as athletics, hockey, climbing, rugby, box fit, zumba and pilates need to be booked in advance by phoning the leisure centre, in Panfield Lane.

There will also be cycle rides, for which you will need to bring your own bike and helmet, bike checks, health checks, under 5s soft play and for £1 you can have a go on a giant bouncy castle slide.

Event participants will receive a free gift, subject to availability, and there will be food and drink available.

The event runs from 9.30am until 4pm. For more information and to book ring the centre on 0845 2601535.
