Two friends have successfully completed a 1,500-mile journey across Europe in a car decorated like a Spitfire.
Kris Bennett, 40, and Nick Lawson, 39, set off from Nick’s house in Purcell Road, Witham at about 3.30pm last Thursday to make their way to the starting point of the Wacky Rally in France - a challenge to make it across Europe in four days in an old banger.
To take part in the rally, the duo’s task was to find a car for just £300 and make it stand out as much as possible.
They opted for a 20-year-old Mazda MX5, which they painted as a Spitfire, complete with propellors, so the pair could dress up as pilots.
See the Braintree and Witham Times, out on Thursday, for the full story.
