Worried residents are urging Essex County Council to switch on streetlights overnight after a group of travellers pitched up on a Braintree road.
Travelling families were evicted from land at Straits Mill in Covent Lane, Bocking, last Thursday morning by the landowner and it is believed the same group have moved to the green space in Mill Park Drive in Braintree the same day.
Seven caravans, one camper van and various cars and pick-up trucks are understood to have pitched up.
Residents living nearby are now urging Essex County Council to keep the streetlights on overnight in a bid to increase security on the street.
Since going to press, the caravans have moved.
