The Big Lunch event is coming to Braintree.

Aimed at increasing the sense of community by encouraging neighbours to have lunch together once a year, the event will take place on July 12 from 12.30pm onwards in St Paul’s Church, Hay Lane South.

Everyone is invited to bring their own lunch and something to sit on and there will also be exhibitions of local art, sales of art and crafts, beauty and healthcare, confectionery and cakes.

Wonderful idea.

Bring your own lunch Oh, and while you're about it bring your own chair as well!

I'm sure my great apotheosis W C Fields would have loved this.

"Smile sweetly, have lunch with your neighbour and get it over with for another year".

Actually if they'd let me and my cellmate Charlie out for day we'd come - honest!

The Stinker Returns says...

I have an elderly mother who lives in Brentwood. I see her every week but ideally I would like someone who lives locally to pop in on her every day or every other day. In return I would happily do the same for an elderly person in Witham. When I have asked charities to help facilitiate this they have told me that they cannot help but I am welcome to make a donation. Thanks.
