Witham Town have been left in shock after their chairman Tony Last died suddenly last night.

The club announced this morning that their long-serving chairman passed away while at the Village Glass Stadium on Thursday evening after suffering a heart attack.

Despite all efforts to revive Tony, the paramedics were unable to save him.

A statement on the club website said: "It is a very sad time for Tony's family as well as the club and we are sure you will all want to join us in sending our deepest condolences to his wife Linda and their family.

"Gone but never forgotten."

This is a complete shock to me as I knew Tony when he was secretary to Stanway Rovers & Braintree Town Youth teams. RIP Tony, my thoughts and prayers are now for your family.
