A Braintree care home threw open its doors to the public to host a vintage Victorian tea party.

Bradbury House care home, in New Street, Braintree, invited the local community into the home in support of the National Care Home Open Day.

The team got into the vintage spirit by dressing up as maids and ladies, with live entertainment provided by Lorraine Ely, who sang ‘songs from the shows’ whilst everyone tucked into tea, cakes and bubbly.

Manager Jackie Preston said: “This was a very important event for us.

“It offered a great opportunity to challenge the preconceptions that many people have about life in a care home and offer people a taste of life at Bradbury House.

“We were delighted that the chairman of the town council could join us as well, who complimented us on our lovely home and promised to visit us again."
