Everyone can get into the Tour de France spirit with activities across the district.

The Red Lion Pub, Finchingfield, is holding an extravaganza, with a beer festival over the Tour de France weekend (this weekend) and a family fun day on the Sunday from 11.

There will be more than 30 real ales, perries and ciders available and the chance to try out sports on the Sunday, including able tennis, bowls, zumba and tai chi.

There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and craft stalls and the opportunity to cycle the distance of this stage of the Tour on an exercise bike.

An opening ceremony will take place in the morning prior to the Tour de France carnival coming through the village and there will also be a closing ceremony which will include the results of the challenges, awarding of prizes and the Grand Draw results.

Entrance is free, but there will be a charge for some of the activities with proceeds going to a local children’s charity.

The Swan, Rayne, is also holding a packed weekend of activities to celebrate the famous cycle race.

On Saturday, they are holding a party with live music and a barbacue with profits from tickets, which cost £10, going to Rayne School PSA.

Then on the Sunday, enjoy a five course meal with a French theme, complimented by Ged of Wine Fame presenting wines of the region to whet your appetite ready for the race the following day. Tickets are £35 each and must be booked in advance.

You are then invited to watch the tour from a raised and covered race-side seating at the pub. These £30 race day tickets include canapes and live music, and there will be Pimms and a barbacue available, with parking £10 per car.
