Best wishes for the Gentleman's recovery, but why the secrecy over the location?

Couldn't the BWT even ask the most fundamental question of the Ambulance Service instead of just blindly repeating their standard bulletin?

The BWT journalists seem to have no concept whatsoever of the likely interest of their readership.

Agreed,this is the vaguest 'report' I've ever read!No who,where,when,why,h
ow? And the most basic 'what? Essentially 'a helicopter took a man to hospital',was he 'local' if so to where? Not award winning Journalism is it!

Well it may not mean anything to you but it means an awful lot to the people who read the Gazette, you know the one's I mean yes those with their sad little lives who have got nothing better to do than poke their nose's into other people's business.

In fact it says the accident occurred at Blackmore End, which is enough. And the report in the printed paper will doubtless say more. Of course, those who do not buy the paper will remain in ignorance of the details.
.
On-line reports like this are put on the website to encourage people to go out and buy the paper. This should by now be obvious to anyone except the brainless or witless.

The original report published at 09:35 simply referred to 'a man in a rural area of Braintree'.

Credit to the BWT for taking note of the feedback and subsequently (at 14:13) updating the report.

-6 for just asking why the exact location would make a difference?? I must be missing something here as I stand by my original comment. If this was an RTC then I can understand that statistically it may be of some importance to alert people that there is a problem at a particular location. Someone falling off a ladder would not require the same information. How the person came to fall off the ladder would be good information for those that need to know in order to establish the cause and hopefully prevent these kind of incidents happening. Above all else someone has been hurt for what ever reason and I for one wish them a speedy recovery.

Sorry, I forgot to add, to those of you who decided to negatively score my comment, does it assist your enquiries or make a jot of difference to your lives to know that this incident happened at Blackmore End? I think not.

Hello, I'm the the mans step daughter, and am somewhat surprised to find this on here, I was on looking for parking info for the Tour and thought , OMG it's Roy! He's from Bolton and was staying with us for a couple of weeks, he's a very active man and enjoys house maintenance, gardening and walking, the maintenance bit will have to be curtailed in future....
Just to say, Roy's been transferred to Hope Hospital this morning to their Trauma Unit, multiple fractures, and a head injury are going to make his recovery a long job.
We couldn't have asked for better care than he has received. Addenbrookes has been second to none, the crews first on the scene stabilised a very poorly man, and for that we are extremely grateful.
It's been a very long week, but his improvement has been amazing.

That's good to hear Mummyspurg.

If you happen to peruse the BWT comments column over a period of a few weeks or so you will probably get the impression that its regular contributors are a right bunch of squabbling misfits - and you could be so right!

However I'm sure that we are all agreed (just for once) on one thing, which is that we all wish Roy a speedy recovery in Salford and that he can take comfort from knowing that he has the hearty best wishes of Braintree Folk behind him.

Do please pass on our sentiments to him.
