SUNSHINE and showers greeted more than 2,000 revellers at a free annual music event.

Party-goers were determined to brave the rain with ponchos and umbrellas as they filled Kelvedon Recreation Ground in The Chase, in Kelvedon High Street, on Saturday, for Kelvedon Community Festival.

The family event played host to almost twenty acts from around the region and Kelvedon St Mary’s school choir opened the event for the second year running.

Organiser Jan Cole said: “It was such a great day - I loved seeing all the little kids dancing in the rain.

“Our numbers were slightly down but those that turned up really got into the swing of it despite the weather - families and people of all ages got together and it didn’t seem to put them off."
