History was brought to life as archers, craftsmen and entertainers showed off their skills at Witham medieval fayre.

The popular event drew more than 1,400 visitors who enjoyed live performances, crafts and refreshments at St Nicolas Church in Chipping Hill on Saturday 28 June.

A birds of prey display, knights in armour and traditional fairground games set the scene and visitors tried their hand at lace making, corn dollies and lathe turning.

Rushgreen Bowmen also returned for their tenth year at the fayre to put visitors through their paces in target practice.

Organiser Mike Robinson, who is a warden at St Nicolas Church, said: “The rain didn’t spoil the lovely atmosphere.

“As always, it was a real community event."
