A campaign group who hoped to stop the redevelopment of Braintree’s bus park is disbanding.

Members of the Stop campaign group, who were against the £14million town centre regeneration project, feel that the group has gained less support over the years and can no longer stop the development from going ahead.

Henry Boot Developments was awarded the contract to demolish Braintree’s bus park, in Victoria Street, in June 2011, replacing it with shops, a hotel, a restaurant, a bus interchange and a multi-storey car park.

But the original proposals have been shelved in favour of a development featuring restaurants, a gym, a GP surgery and a town square.

The campaign group members had drawn up a petition with more than 3,000 signatures against the original proposals.
