Proposals to turn Silkworm into a sports bar

A Braintree pub could reopen as a “sports bar” after it has sat empty for more than half a year.

Silkworm, in the town’s High Street, closed its doors in October after the firms running it went into administration.

SW91 Limited, which has a premises in Railway Street, Chelmsford, has applied for a premises licence for the pub.

The application states it is for a sports bar and restaurant, which will serve beers, wines and spirits, provide hot and cold food and show live or pre-recorded sport daily on multiple televisions.

It also states that pool tables and dart boards will be used in the venue and games could be watched by spectators.

Another American innovation imported into the UK -- along with the Coors Lite and Buttwiper gnat's pee passed off as beer and the usual substitution of the single digit salute for the traditional 'up yours' gesture!
