A motorcyclist has been caught riding at 153mph on a dual carriageway near Stebbing - likely to be one of the top recorded speeds in the country.
Police officers carried out speed checks on the A120, which has a speed limit of 70mph, on Saturday and used digital recorders to catch people driving at more than 100mph - including the motorcyclist riding at more than double the limit.
Riding at that speed of 2.55 miles a minute, it would have taken the rider just five minutes and 10 seconds to reach Stansted Airport from Braintree town centre and over six minutes to reach Colchester.
The highest speed clocked by a speed camera on Britain's roads last year was 149mph on the M25 in Kent.
