Retail guru Mary Portas is hoping to come to Braintree to improve and promote a shop in the town.
The self-styled Queen of Shops, whose Portas Pilot scheme was adopted by Braintree in 2012, is hoping to film an episode of her new series Mary Portas: Secret Shopper in the town where she has injected money to improve the High Street.
Businesses across the UK, who would like fresh ideas to bring customers through the door, are encouraged to apply to be in the new series but the show producers have said that an independent business in Braintree is likely to feature in a full episode.
A spokesman for Optomen Television, the TV production company behind the show, said: “It’s the second series of Mary Portas: Secret Shopper, she will be looking at businesses across the UK, but if a shop from Braintree came forward there would be an episode dedicated to the shop."
