Fantastic fayre coming to Witham
6:00pm Tuesday 24th June 2014 in News
Witham will be filled with all the sites of a medieval fayre on June 28.
Dating back to 1978, the fayre at St Nicolas Church was first launched to fund raise for the restoration work needed to the stonework of the church building.
The Fayre is now in its 37th year but still keeps many of the original features of the first Fayres, with a historical character, either real or fictitious, setting the time period.
The entertainment highlights this year are birds of prey, knights in armour and performances by the Colchester Waits.
There will also be loads of activities in the churchyard and on the Chipping Hill road ,which is closed for the event, including displays of Morris dancers, cheerleaders, tap and ballet dancers, craft stalls selling everything from wicker baskets to lace making, from corn dollies to lathe turning, and sideshows, games, face painting and a bouncy castle.
There will be traditional English summer refreshments available, including strawberry and cream teas, home made cakes, and a burger stall.
The fayre, at the church on Chipping Hill, Witham, will take place on June 28 from 2pm until 5pm.
