Loneliness can be one of the worst things to experience when you are elderly and living in a care home.
But one Feering mum’s friendly face and chatter is helping to combat elderly resident’s isolation through her voluntary role as a community visitor.
Mum-of-two Lisa Carpenter, 46, of Greenways, pops into a care home once or twice a week when she has spare time to offer an ear or a lending hand to those in need of support or just someone to talk to.
After 18 months of volunteering at the Hill House nursing home in Colchester, she said that she has realised just how much she has enriched people’s lives - and how they have enriched hers.
