Future improvements to Braintree town centre could include restaurants such as Nandos and a Prezzo, said councillors.
Councillor Graham Butland, leader of Braintree Council, said well-known restaurants are needed in Braintree in order to increase footfall and to improve nightlife.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, he said that the council will soon be coming forward with plans for the town centre as part of the revised Local Development Framework (LDF).
Councillor Lady Patricia Newton said: “We need to look at how town centres develop and what people want from their town centres.
“We need to somehow get more eateries into the town centre, names people recognise like Nandos or Prezzo.”
