The Health and Safety Executive is investigating an accident on a fairground ride after Braintree Carnival.

A 14-year-old girl was left unconscious after hitting her head on a ride, believed to be the Eliminator, at 10pm on Saturday.

She had not cut her head but sustained a large lump.

A community first responder and an ambulance were called to the scene and she was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further assessment.

An ambulance spokesman said: “Her condition was not thought to be immediately life-threatening.”

Police officers closed the ride and carried out initial investigations.

They found no suspicious circumstances and left the investigation with the Health and Safety Executive.
