Braintree and Witham Times: Thieves steal from five elderly shoppers in a month Thieves steal from five elderly shoppers in a month

Thieves have targeted five elderly shoppers in the Braintree district in the space of a month.

Police officers are urging pensioners to be on the look out when shopping after thieves, believed to be eastern Europeans, have been spotted lurking in town centre shops, deliberately preying on the elderly.

Five elderly pensioners shopping in Braintree, Witham and Halstead have all had their purses stolen in May.

Police officers are urging elderly shoppers to be on the look out after the thieves seem to be targeting people who are older.

Last week, the Times reported how a 79-year-old woman from Witham was the victim of a purse dipping in Witham town centre, when someone unzipped her shoulder bag when she wasn’t looking.

Bhudeeka Dear.

Judged by the number of times you advocate it, you do seem to have a rather enthusiastic penchant for 'manus remotionem' as means of solving society's ills.

I neither agree or disagree with you - so you mustn't shout at me.

I do however wonder what you plan to do with all the leftover bits. Would the expelled repatriates all be carrying little brown paper parcels tied up with string as nostalgic mementos of their time the UK perhaps?
