A couple have been left devastated and angry by the death of their dog.
Luke Wintrip’s mother-in-law was walking his and his partner’s, Abigail’s, two-year-old chihuahua, Taffy, along the River Walk, Braintree, last Saturday when he was attacked by a staffordshire bull terrier.
"He ran over and attacked Taffy three times, until my mum and her greyhound were able to chase it off."
Taffy was immediately rushed to the vets and Mr Wintrip tried to contact the dog warden to alert them to the loose dog.
However, he struggled to find the number and when he managed to get through, he was told that as it was a bank holiday weekend, he should ring back on Tuesday.
