Staff at two supermarkets in Braintree and Witham will be donning red, white and blue and baking their tastiest treats for a good cause this weekend.

The event at Morrisons stores, in conjunction with Britain's Got Talent, will help to raise money for Sue Ryder Hospice charity in Braintree by selling homemade cakes and holding bucket collections on Saturday.

Morrisons supermarkets across the country are hoping to mark the talent show's grand final by reaching their £50,000 target to help give a boost to local charities.

Community champion for Morrisons Braintree Louise Kemp said: “We call on Braintree’s residents to come down to our store this weekend.

"Many of us have been busily baking cakes for our customers to donate their spare change to enjoy and we hope it will raise significant funds for Sue Ryder’s vital community care and support in Braintree.”
