A 39-year-old man who seemed fit and healthy collapsed and died in a Witham street.

Full-time mum Gemma Edwards saw the Polish national, who lived in Witham, lying on the ground in Bronte Road as she returned home from watching a boxing match on Sunday at around 3am.

The mum-of-two, 29, said local residents were attempting to resuscitate him when she arrived, but were unable to.

Ambulance crews then attended the scene but were unable to save the man, who is believed to live in the town’s Humber Road.

Miss Edwards said: “There was no blood, no sick, no wetness - nothing."
