A kind-hearted man who has a form a cerebral palsy ran the Braintree five mile run as a thank you to a charity which has helped him.
Michael Hewett, 20, has Worster-Drought Syndrome, which affects the muscles around the mouth and throat causing issues with speaking and swallowing, meaning he can only communicate through Makaton symbols and signs and an app on his iPad.
Mr Hewett, a former pupil of Edith Borthwick school, Bocking, decided he wanted to run the five mile course to race money for PARC Essex, which is based in Great Notley country park and provides a safe environment where children who have additional needs can play and make friends.
Mr Hewett, who is currently at a residential college in Lincolnshire, started attending the centre when he was ten and decided he wanted to give something back to them as he has benefited so much from the centre.
He raised more than £1,008 in sponsorship money for the run.
