A pub dating from the 16th century has reopened after an extensive makeover.

Improvements at The Sun Inn, Feering, include new flooring, seats, and a fresh coat of paint on the walls.

Landlord Andrew Howard said: “I am over the moon with the work that has been completed in the pub.

“We wanted to preserve the wonderful history of the building whilst making guests feel welcome.”
The renovation has come in time for The Sun Inn’s Beer and Pig Festival, which takes place from June 19 to 22.

Last month two men appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court following a robbery at the pub on April 14.

Craig Winskill, 24, of no fixed address, faced five robbery charges but did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.
Jaymes Lang, 23, of Snowdrop Close, Witham, was charged with aggravated burglary, he also entered no plea, was remanded in custody and will also be back in court next month.
