An angry resident claims parts of Witham have been left looking “third world” after being neglected by contractors.

John Farrell is furious with Greenfields housing association and its contractors for allegedly failing to keep parts of the Humber Road and Hatfield Road estates tidy, leaving some parts to become badly overgrown.

Mr Farrell, who lives in Hatfield Road, claims the grass in some places has not been cut for months.

“It’s absolutely disgraceful,” he said.

Greenfields' housing director, Sandra Crosby, admitted the its new grounds maintenance contract had not started as well as hoped and apologised for the problems.

I to have complained to Greenfields on more than one occasion about the mess that they have brought to estates in Braintree District. In the parish that I have represented for 32years now I can honestly say I have never seen it looking so bad. I have some photos that basically compere there cutting to a ploughed field and that which has been cut by BDC looking like it should. We all can appreciate new contractors have teething problems however these teething problems have been now going on for so long they have become dentures!. Greenfields I ask you that you take drastic action now to rectify this before your reputation falls right down the mower!!!

Firstly, Ms Flint, your spelling is terrible.

However, I have also complained to Greenfields about cutting the greens when it has been far too wet and basically churning up the area like a ploughed field. Also, they damage parked cars by going too close with their machinery.

Some ‘interesting stuff’ emanating from the dialogue on this subject.

Mrs Flint is clearly somewhat piqued with TSR’s critique of her spelling. Otherwise why else would she hit back with such barbed comments regarding his chosen pseudonym and apparent (from her viewpoint anyway) need to ‘get a life’? Not a good move Mrs ‘F’. If you can’t parry genuine criticism that is based on undeniable fact with anything other than the odd ‘swipe or two below the belt’ it’s probably best to simply ignore it and the matter will soon fade into the mists of time in any case. Take Bhudeeka as a classic example. She is a Master (or should that be Mistress?) of the art of never responding to justifiable criticism, but simply choosing to let the matter ‘fizzle out’ on its own accord. (Maybe she’d make a good politician - God help us all!)

xxxdave queries whether the new contractor is Pinnacle Psg? Personally having never heard of them I looked them up on the internet. I have to say that reading the Home Page on their Website almost left me almost gagging. Such a flowery, self-laudatory, load of ‘bull plop’ and conglomeration of trendy buzz words and business speak phrases I don’t think I have ever seen. It actually makes quite entertaining reading - delightfully so when you stumble across the use of the wrong word (Mrs ‘F’ please note) in the second paragraph!

It all just goes to show that attention to detail apropos spelling and choice of correct words is crucially important - particularly when one is attempting to convey - to a possibly sceptical readership to begin with - something that you feel particularly passionate about.

TSR was right Mrs ‘F’. You shouldn’t knock him for doing you the favour of pointing out your mistakes.
