Hundreds of people basked in the sunshine as a village hosted its annual medieval May fayre.
Visitors from Braintree, Great Notley and beyond flocked to St Mary's Church in Great Leighs on Saturday.
Among the attractions were maypole dancing, fancy dress competition, a bouncy castle, archery, a juggler, children’s sports day and a hog roast.
Pupils from Great Leighs Primary School also took part in an art competition.
The event is a joint venture between St Mary's Church, St John’s Church in Little Leighs and St Martin’s Church in Little Waltham.
Some £1,927 was raised and will be split between the three churches.
