A heroic air cadet has been presented with an award after helping save an elderly who collapsed in Witham.
Sgt Frazer Simpson, of Witham Air Cadets, was walking a friend home when he noticed the woman, believed to be in her 70s, leaning up against a wall and looking ill near Witham Public Hall, in Collingwood Road, on October 5.
As Frazer, 17, approached the woman she collapsed and started to fit. The former Maltings Academy pupil assessed her but she was unresponsive so he put her in the recovery position and called an ambulance.
The woman then stopped breathing so he turned her onto back ready to start CPR, but fortunately as he extended her airway she started to breath on her own again.
Frazer, of Medway Avenue, Witham, stayed with her until paramedics arrived and took her to hospital.
The crew later praised him for his actions and on Friday he was presented with a good citizen award at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust’s annual awards ceremony.
