A brave young mum has raised more than £2,000 for the charity that supported her through breast cancer.

Ayse Jones, 31, was diagnosed with breast cancer Christmas last year, four months after she had given birth to her second child, Lola.

In order to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and to celebrate the end of her 18 week course of chemotherapy, Ayse organised a fun day on May 3 at Lyons Hall Primary School, Deerleap Way, with face painting, a children’s entertainer, a bouncy castle and a raffle.

Ayse said: “I am really pleased by how well it went. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a really good time.

“I was only expecting to raise £500 but that day alone raised £1,259 and this, together with my online donation page, means we have raised about £2,060.

“The Tuesday afterwards I went to hospital and had my mastectomy and reconstruction and the operation was fully successful."
