Residents are being called on to get their cats neutered.
The Colne Valley branch of the Cats Protection is running a neutering programme for both male and female cats in the area, with people on low incomes able to get their cat neutered for just £10.
Kornelia Teelucksingh, co-ordinator at the rescue centre, said: “We are disappointed by the uptake of our neutering programme.
“It is really important that both male and female cats are neutered.
“It is not good for female cats to be having kittens all the time and male cats are put at risk of contracting FIV, similar to the human HIV, and abscesses due to them fighting."
