An inquest has opened into the death of a man who was struck by a train in Witham.
Emergency services were called to Witham railway station on April 24 following reports a person had been in collision with a train.
Police had initially said the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was a 65-year-old man from the Witham area.
However, he has since been named as 65-year-old Brian Smart, of Springfield, Chelmsford.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford earlier this month.
