Tenants set up Facebook page to air views on Greenfields Community Housing

Braintree and Witham Times: Tenants set up Facebook page to air views on Greenfields Community Housing Tenants set up Facebook page to air views on Greenfields Community Housing

Residents have set up a Facebook page to air their views about a housing association.

Greenfields Community Housing Saints or Sinners was set up this morning.

The housing association manages about 8,500 homes after forming in 2007 and taking over Braintree Council’s housing stock.

In response to the new page, a Greenfields spokesman said: “People are entitled to set up a page about the subject matter of their choice on Facebook, so we won’t be asking them to take this page down.

“We will be monitoring comments made, and if someone has a legitimate complaint, we will respond accordingly].

“We do have an effective complaints procedure in place, and would prefer that people contacted us directly.”

what exactly will those views be? to praise the low rents; free maintenance works carried out at a phone call; doors kicked down through police raids with known drug user tenants while we foot the bill for new ones!!!!!!!!!! I have a few things to say about housing associations alright and a majority of theire tenants

I'm sorry but please know all of your facts before coming to such judgmental and all be it WRONG accumulations of people! I myself live in a property provided for by Greenfields, and as like many others do not receive any handouts or have you "foot" any of the bills for me thank you very much! i work my arse off full time, and simply chose a housing association because the costs of living, renting, buying and whichever were simply too steep when i was ready to leave home! Yes i agree there may too be plenty of JSA Seekers, and Not so nice people living in these sorts of premise' , but do not Tar everyone with the same brush! They may be claiming, and yes this angers me too, as i am paying my share.
But i am sick of people assuming everyone who is under housing, is a drug user, alcoholic, or doesn't work! What about the elderly people that have been under associations for years and myself and partner, like many others who work hard full time!
(AND for you information, we have costs included within our rent that pay for the maintenance!)

I second this comment, MSKJC90. Bhudeeka how dare you assume that all of us tenants fall within your small minded opinions!
The majority of their tenants, ha!!
I work, I pay my tax, I pay my council tax, water etc. etc. just like you (we presume!) and my experience was not at all how you described, years of asking for rising damp to be addressed, poor heating systems and an overall bad customer service experience (on-going). If someone rents a property it is the responsibility of the 'landlord' to maintain their premises, regardless of how their rent is paid for.
I hope you do not ever fall on hard times, you may just be in for a shock!

I agree that the cost of maintenance etc. is included in the rent, as it should also be with private landlords. However, it is still a fact that rent in a Greenfields, or any other Housing Association, property is still significantly less than if it was private rented.

Keith_I...

I do not question or refuse to agree that the rent is cheaper. One of the reasons i signed up to get housing, was because i wasn't earning enough to pay extortionate letting agency fees,,,
But why is it a Tenant's fault or responsibility how much greenfields or housing associations charge?! I didn't ask them to charge me what they do.
I waited on a list for Three and 1/2 years before i was provided anywhere, and as i said i don't get help with absolutely anything, i work and pay for everything

Dear MSLJC90 & thatsyouropinion, try not be offended by Bhudeeka’s comments. Sadly they portray a tortured mind addled by a perverse and twisted perspective of the world within which we live.

However much she angers you, you should reflect upon the fact that she is but an inarticulate semi- literate creature who can barely string together a sufficiency of words required to express any meaningful argument - and so resorts to spewing out deep rooted vitriolic hatred of anything and everything that doesn’t accord with her own interpretation of a perfect world.

It’s ironic that she actually touches quite frequently upon matters which do concern so many of us more ‘rational and moderate’ citizens who seek to live in comfortable harmony amongst our peers, neighbours and society in general. So sad that she then clouds the issue by resorting to such histrionic and hateful outbursts without a thought whatsoever of the negative impact she creates.

If her comments are then dismissed as nothing more than the ‘Poisonous Rantings of a Rabid Nut Case’ then I’m afraid that by now she has no one but herself to blame.

Maybe she was simply born 800 years too late to fulfil her natural destiny.
Methinks she would have found her ideal role in life as one of Gengis Khan’s groupies trotting round with the Mongol Hordes. Yes, I rather think she would have relished that. Maybe someone can find a working Tardis then we can shove her in it and send her back to the thirteenth century where she belongs.
