A pair of youngsters completed a three-legged walk at a football ground to raise money for the Essex Air Ambulance.

Friends Ami May and Ellie Jordan, 12, walked five miles tied together, before finishing their journey on the pitch at half-time of Braintree Town’s match against Dartford on Good Friday.

Ami, of Coggeshall Road, Braintree, and Ellie, of Walter Way, Silver End, are classmates in Year Seven at Alec Hunter Academy.

Ami said: “It has always been my mum’s favourite charity and we have seen the helicopter landing in the park near us quite a few times.

“I live right near the field and we have seen quite a few accidents.”

In total, the pair have raised about £900 so far, which includes the proceeds of a raffle which took place at the football club on matchday.

Ami’s mum, Sarah May, said: “It is for such a good cause - I think the girls were pretty chuffed and quite tired as well.”
