AT the April meeting, members heard about retired David Wornahm’s varied career as a police officer, during which he dealt with everything from traffic control to bank robberies.

He did a great variety of jobs in many different locations.

For a time, he was the sole policeman in a village but more often he worked in towns with a number of other officers.

He recalled many interesting anecdotes but perhaps most surprising was the variety of transport he had used, including bicycles, a motor bike and an aeroplane.

The next meeting is on May 6 at 7.30pm at Beoley Village Hall, when Karen O’Connor will talk about Secrets from the CBSO. New members welcome.
