Would-be thieves caused £600 damage trying to break into a house.

They attempted to jemmy open the back door of the property in Stour Court, Chelmer Road, Braintree but failed to get it open.

Damage was caused to the door and frame.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Chelmer Road area between midnight on Saturday, April 5 and midnight on Tuesday, April 8 is asked to call DC Rebecca Kidby at Braintree Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
