An elated Braintree shopkeeper believes justice has been done after his teenage son’s killer was found guilty.
Stafford Whiston, who runs Cash In Hand in Braintree, cheered on the steps of Chelmsford Crown Court after vicious thug Edward Redman was found guilty of murdering Jay Whiston, 17, by stabbing him at a house party in 2012.
The 18-year-old had denied murdering Jay, 17, who worked at his dad’s Braintree shop, at a party in Colchester nearly two years ago.
Edward’s father Gary Redman, 51, brother John Redman, 20, and former girlfriend Shannon Fenlon, 19, were found guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice in connection with the murder.
Mr Whiston said: “This is the best I have felt.
"Jay is still dead but at least we have got justice."
