Workers at a nursing home have no time to sit and talk with residents because of insufficient staff levels.
Hatfield Peverel Lodge, on Crabbs Hill, Hatfield Peverel, failed to meet required standards in four out of seven categories in a recent inspection.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has demanded the home improves staffing, medicine management and welfare provision.
Staff told inspectors that the staffing levels at the home were “terrible” and that they were “very unhappy” they could not spend more time with residents.
Hatfield Peverel Lodge, which is owned by Bupa, provides accommodation and care for up to 70 people.
A nursing home spokesman said: “The health and wellbeing of our residents is our absolute priority.
“We are increasing the number of permanent staff and reviewing the staffing levels on a daily basis."
