Plans for 74 new homes are likely to be approved as long as developers make a commitment to provide affordable housing.

Bellway Homes has lodged an application for land off Mill Park Drive, between the A120 and Braintree Freeport train station.

The building of new homes, which will form part of the Heathlands development, could signal the completion of a housing estate which was first approved in 2001.

Officers have recommended Braintree Council’s planning committee approves the application at a meeting on Tuesday.

As part of the agreement, Bellway would be expected to provide 12 affordable homes and contribute £25,182 for extra primary and secondary school places.
