A young man has been awarded for his commitment to helping other young people turn their lives around.
Jake Mabey, 21, of Shimbrooks, Great Leighs, received the High Sheriff’s Shield at the recent High Sheriff Awards held at Anglia Ruskin University, organised by the Essex Community Foundation.
He was nominated by Sue Pell, 63, fundraising officer at the Essex Boys’ and Girls’ Club, for his work with the club’s RESPECT project, which helps students in year nine who are struggling with school, have little self confidence or low self esteem, through a four month programme consisting of activity days and life skills sessions.
