Walkers are urged to be on the alert after a tub containing needles was found dumped in a field.
Witham district councillor Bob Evans is concerned for the safety of anyone using the field near the Motts Lane crossing after a resident’s dog sniffed out the tub.
Mr Evans, of Forest Road, will be taking the needles to Braintree Council’s environment department to be disposed of.
He said: “If people pick these sharps up and get pricked by them, it could be very serious."
