A pensioner was left shaken and needing treatment from paramedics after being attacked in the street.
The lady, in her 70s, was assaulted in the street by a man in Fairfield Road and was treated for minor injuries by the East of England Ambulance Service.
An off-duty nurse, who asked not to be named, administered first aid in Halifax following the attack which happened just before 11am yesterday.
She said: “I went into the bank and saw people round her.
“I'm a nurse so asked if she was ok.
“I got a blood pressure machine and blood sugar machine from chemist next door and checked her pulse.
“She was shaken up and had a lump on her leg.
“I don't really know what happened, other than she didn't know him and she wasn't robbed.”
A spokesman from the East of England Ambulance Service said: “Ambulance crew gave her a thorough assessment at the scene and she didn’t require hospital treatment.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers attended and the man responsible was identified.
“It’s been agreed with the victim, who received only minor injuries, that the incident would be dealt with by way of a community resolution.”
