A budding Braintree snapper is to have his picture displayed in a prestigious gallery after entering a national contest.
London Road resident Ben Priddy, 18, is to have his photo, Flipping In Isolation, exhibited at the Strand Gallery in London.
The Economic and Social Research Council’s Where do I belong? photographic competition was open to 14-18 year olds and attracted more than 2,000 entries.
Pupils were encouraged to submit a photo showing where they belonged where they felt they fitted in, or what forms their opinions and beliefs.
Felsted School pupil Ben, who is studying history of art, classical civilisation and English, took his snap in the Felsted School grounds and chose the category opinions and beliefs.
He said: “Finding out my photo was being exhibited was wonderful.
“I wanted to portray a sense of shadowed talent.
“With nobody around to see the gymnast, it gave off a feeling of a missed wonder by the majority of society.
“The fog and the pale tone of the photo also show this theme of isolation.
“All the years developing my skills in photography and hard work have paid off.
“Commitment can make a lot of things possible.”
Ben’s photo was highly commended by the judges and will be displayed at the gallery between March 18-23.
