Hundreds of storybook characters were brought to life in a celebration of literature.

Pupils and staff at Chipping Hill Primary School, in Witham, and Tabor Academy in Braintree dressed to impress as a way of marking World Book Day last Thursday.

Primary Year 6 teacher Paul Drury, who wore a Superman outfit, said: “It’s a real celebration of reading and it was very entertaining day.

“We had children dressed up in a whole range of costumes with face paints and wigs.

“It was brilliant.

“Everyone was running around saying who are you and it’s generated a lot of interest in reading.”

*BOTH EDITIONS OF THE BRAINTREE AND WITHAM TIMES WILL BE CARRYING A SPREAD OF PICTURES FROM BOTH SCHOOLS. CAN YOU SPOT YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER?

My kids school did something a bit different, they decorated a potato in the theme of their favourite book character which was great fun and they came up with some amazing creations , made a change from the usual dressing up thing:-)
