Two talented musicians are keeping everything crossed that their work is about to be recognised in the industry.

Vicky Final and Luke Scannell, both Year 11 pupils at Rickstones Academy, are preparing to spend time working with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

They will spend a day in London this month taking part in composition workshops.

Anthea Roue, head of music at the academy, said: “We are always looking at opportunities for our students and this is hopefully an avenue for their work to be recognised. It will be fantastic for the two students to work with professional musicians.”

Vicky is also taking the opportunity to work with musical therapists at neighbouring Southview School, in Witham, to help her to break into the industry, while Luke hopes to develop his compositional skills and continue his studies.
