A council has offered its support to an archery club that fears it may be forced to fold.
The Rushgreen Bowmen Archery Club has been using land behind the old Bramston Sports Centre for 28 years.
However, it now faces an uncertain future as Braintree Council is selling the land, which houses its clubhouse and storage container, to make room for the new Witham Leisure Centre.
The club is trying to convince the council to transfer ownership of the land to Maltings Academy, who can then lease it back to the club.
During a Witham Town Council meeting on Monday, councillors voted in favour of making representations to Braintree Council in support of the club’s suggestion.
