Off-duty postie Ian leads search for missing dog

First published in News

A postman has been praised for his community spirit for returning to his round after his shift had ended to find a missing dog.

Ian Palmer, 29, was delivering post in Tye Green last Friday afternoon when he spotted anxious Braintree Road resident Sally Hayes-Smith.

Sally had been flagging down passing cars for help after her 11-month-old Yorkshire terrier Annie escaped from home.

After completing his shift, Braintree-based postman Ian searched nearby fields for Annie until she was eventually found and safely returned four hours later.

Its not slow news day at all is it... bloke deserves some recognition, in this day and age there are not enough people around unfortunately to do what he done. Hats off to him and its a pleasure to read some good stuff like this once in a while.

there are loads who would help to look for a lost dog if they saw a worried owner in the street. Yes, well done to the chap but its not like he ran into a burning building and saved lives is it!

What next? 'Man feeds cat for a week while neighbours away on holiday'

er...i'll stop you there ponders whether a man feeding his neighbours', cat for a week would be newsworthy

Maybe not, but if it was Bhudeeka that was feeding her neighbour's cat, that would certainly be BIG NEWS!

Here Puddy Puddy, come to Auntie Buddy, I have a nice strychnine flavoured little morsel for you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Ha ha!!

(P.S. And I salute Ian Palmer. Good guy!!)

Surely, after Graham Kings ‘shenanigans’ (just a mere 42,000 items of mail gone adrift over a seven year period) we can’t begrudge the Post Orifice a little bit of decent PR for once can we?
