A food store has reopened after a £500,000 makeover.

The East of England Co-operative, in The Broadway, Silver End, temporarily shut on January 4 while the works took place. But the revamped shop reopened last Friday.

Cutting the ribbon was Josie Badiuk, who lives in Silver End and worked in both the village’s original Co-operative store in the 1940s, which burnt down in 1951, as well as the existing shop in the late 1970s.
