Woman criticises benefits system after being made to seek work despite suffering five heart attacks
3:00pm Saturday 1st March 2014 in News
A woman who claims she is being forced to look for work despite suffering five heart attacks has branded the reformed benefits system “crazy”.
Christine Richard, 60, has suffered ill health from about 2004, but since the benefits system was altered has been told she is no longer entitled to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and instead put on Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
A DWP spokesman said: "We have followed the correct procedures in processing the benefit claim.
"If people want to submit extra evidence or a fresh claim then we will look at the case again."
